Tim attended California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, California in the middle 60's. This was on a scholarship out of high school, in or for sculpture. In the 42 years since that era, he developed a watercolor style that garnered commissions during the 70's and 80's. He is not bothered that he has had to have a day job instead of making a living as a full time artist. He'd "hit bottom" and quit a commerical art job in Fresno in 1969. It wasn't fun being "down and out" in Madera. But he kept doing art work. He had a stint in 1970 as a sign painter and screen printer, and revived that in 1977 through 1982. It was a part time business that grew, and it was design work, commercial work, and finishing a product to satisfy customers or clients. This was screen printing vinyl decals, plastic , plexiglas, T-shirts, real estate signs, and painting signs as large as eight feet by thirty-two feet. During the 80's Tim had a broker that was moving his watercolors for a few years. He had to admit that when he tried to do more and better works, he was frustrated at being jury-ed out of shows and exhibits. But, he always sold.
